Frequently Asked Questions
Does XOOM Energy give me credit for the electricity that my solar panels export to the grid?
Yes. The SolarLock 12 Unbundled plan helps you make the most out of your solar panels.
You'll earn bill credits, applied to your monthly XOOM Energy bill, when you send excess solar energy back to the grid. No limit applies to the number of credits you can earn. The credit value differs from the per kWh energy rate we charge for the electricity plan. The credit per kWh for the excess energy sent to the grid is disclosed in your Electricity Facts Label. It may take up to three billing cycles after receiving Permission to Operate (PTO) from your utility to begin receiving credits.
What is "excess energy"?
The electricity your solar panels produce helps to power your home. If your panels produce more electricity than your home needs, the extra electricity is delivered to the grid.
Who can enroll on the SolarLock 12 Unbundled plan?
To be eligible for this plan, you must:
-
Install and activate (or have activation scheduled for) a qualifying solar energy system at your home with a rated capacity less than 50 kW.
-
Have an existing Interconnection Agreement with your utility (or TDSP).
-
Have a meter installed and configured by your TDSP that measures the inflow and outflow of electricity to and from your home.
Do my credits transfer if I switch plans?
Please see the Terms of Service for information of solar credits following termination of your plan.
Whom do I contact about connecting to the grid and setting up my meter?
